Trend Micro is telling me I have already reached the maximum number of applications.

Answer

 

If you are using Trend Micro Personal Firewall you will probably receive the message box to Allow or Block PMTools access to the network. PMTools needs access to the network in order to function properly. If after you click "Allow" and you receive the message "You have reached the maximum number of rules allowed for the current Personal Firewall Profile. Please delete at least one of the existing rules before adding another."

 

  1. Open the main console then hit firewall controls
  2. Click settings
  3. Click Advanced Setting and go to program control then Remove programs
  4. DON'T REMOVE ANYTHING YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS

If you see PMTools in the list there please remove it. Then launch PMTools again and click the Allow to add PMTools back into the rules list. If PMTools is not in the list and you have maxed out the number of rules, something will need to be removed in order for PMTools to take it's place.
